Supervision
Supervision gives a space where practitioners can explore and develop a deeper understanding of the underlying emotional meaning of what the child’s or young person’s behaviour might be communicating and how this might relate to their past and present relationships and experiences. It is also a place to think about strategies and ideas that might help support the work.
I offer individual or group supervision to professionals working with children and young people and their families to enhance their understanding of their work by thinking primarily through a psychoanalytic framework.
Supervision is available to a wide range of mental health professionals and those working in non-clinical settings. This may include clinical psychologists, educational psychologists, art therapists, child and adolescent counsellors, GP's and medical and nursing professionals, and voluntary sector organisations.
I also offer supervision to professionals working with children in pastoral roles in schools, colleges and universities, nursery staff, and early-year settings, including staff based in children's centres.
I have completed additional supervisory training with the Tavistock and Portman Centre.
Consultation
Consultation offers the opportunity to think about a child and their difficulties. I might advise what approach could help the child or offer my support if appropriate. Consultations can be a one-off meeting or an ongoing process where we regularly think about children who are a cause of concern.
